Liberty VPN ReviewMay 2019 Liberty VPN Review & Deals
VPNs are a great way to protect your privacy online at an affordable monthly rate.
With these services, you can get around annoying content blocks, block your IP address, and protect all of your sensitive personal information with state of the art encryption.
There are a ton of VPN providers out there, and it’s hard to know which one is worth the money. I reviewed LibertyVPN’s services to see just how they stacked up to the competition.
Here are the results, and what you can expect to get from your monthly fee.
Overall, LibertyVPN is a pretty decent value for the money. There are some drawbacks to their service, but for the most part, you really get what you pay for. Let’s recap:
- works with most operating systems
- allows multiple connections
- no data logging
- unlimited bandwidth
- money back guarantee
- fast and secure connection
- easy to navigate website
- lots of server locations
- affordable service plans
- easy to use and set up
- limited customer service hours
- no referral program
- won’t work with Linux devices
- only e-mail support available
As you can see, the good really outweighs the bad here. Though there are limitations with customer service; their connection speed, features, and device compatibility makes them a great value for less than $15 a month.

Particularly if you’re new to VPN software, it really gives you added peace of mind if a company has a solid customer service team to help you out if you get stuck.
If the service isn’t fast, friendly, and helpful, then they’re not worth your hard-earned money.
Unfortunately, this is where LibertyVPN is lacking.
If a company isn’t available around the clock to answer your questions, you could be waiting a seriously long time for help.
Depending on the time zone of the company versus your own, hours could be odd and it can be difficult to get in touch with service representatives.
LibertyVPN doesn’t offer 24/7 support, so be sure that you feel confident using the software without round the clock assistance.
Being able to get in touch with customer service in a few different ways can be seriously convenient. Options like live chat and phone service can provide you with almost immediate service.
Though they do offer e-mail assistance, LibertyVPN doesn’t have live chat or phone support, so you may end up waiting a while for a response.
Customer Support Test
To put LibertyVPN’s customer service to the test, I contacted their support staff at two different times.
I contacted them once during normal business hours, and once in the middle of the night, to see how quickly they responded, and how helpful their service was. Here are the results.
E-mail Support Test #1-Saturday/11:37 p.m.
I tried getting ahold of LibertyVPN’s support staff the first time well after normal business hours. Their response was pretty sluggish, taking almost 2 ½ hours to respond.
However, service was polite and direct, addressing the issue and getting to the solution in one response.
Result: 2 hours and 27 minutes
E-mail Support Test #2-Sunday/8:36 a.m.
During regular business hours I got a response in less than half the time of the other inquiry. Once again, service was polite and to the point.
Result: 1 hour
Overall, the support wasn’t as fast as I would have liked. The fact that you can only contact them via e-mail is a little frustrating as you’re awaiting assistance.
They get points for resolving my concerns in one try, but a few deducted for the limitations of their customer service hours.
Connection speed is right up there with operating system compatibility in terms of importance.
If the connection isn’t fast, you’re going to be constantly frustrated as you try to go about your business online with it.
Don’t settle for anything that’s going to bog your device down and get in the way of your usual internet activity.
I ran a speed test on LibertyVPN and compared it to the results of a test on my home network without the VPN. Here’s what I ended up with:
As you can see, my download speed was a bit slower when using the VPN than without.
If you’re a big downloader or streamer, LibertyVPN may get the job done, but on some devices it may slow down your connection quite a bit.
This is one of the highest priorities when it comes to selecting a VPN.
Sure, it’s great if it gets you around those internet blocks at work, but where it will really save your butt is by actually protecting your personal information.
You want to make sure you select a VPN with strong enough encryption to keep even the most determined hackers out of your business.
LibertyVPN offers both 128 and 256 bit encryption, as well as L2TP protection – not the highest levels of security, but more than enough to keep your information from being compromised.
Once you’ve got the software installed and your login information, don’t just sit there, connect to that bad boy already!
If your VPN program isn’t easy to use and fast to log into, it’s not worth the space it takes up on your hard drive.
LibertyVPN’s ultra simple, bare bones program isn’t anything flashy, but it’s simple design makes it very straightforward to use.
Your log in screen is right there when you start up the program. Just enter the username and password provided to you, select your server, and hit connect!
LibertyVPN offers a few different options on its dashboard for servers. To change which one you connect to, just select one from the drop down menu underneath where you log in.
What’s the Set Up Process Like?
If you’re new to the technology of VPNs, the concept can seem a little daunting at first.
However, the best providers don’t just offer fancy features and secure connections, but user-friendly software that anyone can navigate.
Set up with LibertyVPN is super simple – just download the file from their site that corresponds with your operating system, put it somewhere easy to find, like your desktop, and log in!
In less than five minutes, you’re connected and ready to go.
Will LibertyVPN Work on My Operating System?
Before you get too carried away with going through all of a VPN’s features, you’ll want to take a look at any and all of the gadgets you’ll want to use it on.
If the VPN isn’t compatible with all of your operating systems, you’ll be limiting yourself to which devices you can use it on.
LibertyVPN holds up pretty well in this category, as it’s compatible with all major operating systems except Linux.
However, it will work seamlessly between Android, Mac, PC, and iOS devices, making great for people who use the internet on their phones, tablets, and laptops.
One of the biggest categories that really sets VPN providers apart are their features. These can vary wildly from company to company, and will either make or break the deal for most people.
If you’re stuck between a couple of providers and can’t decide, let this category be the tie breaker, and get the most bang for your buck.
Feature #1: Multiple Connections
The ability to connect to more than one device simultaneously is very handy, particularly for tech-savvy families.
This way, you can distribute your internet security on all of your devices, without having to worry about your information being compromised just because everyone has their own computer.
LibertyVPN allows up to three simultaneous connections at no extra charge-great for families where everyone has a phone or computer.
Feature #2: Money Back Guarantee
One of the best things a company can offer you is a guarantee that you’re going to love their service or get your money back.
Not every company offers this, so the ones that do are definitely options to keep in the back of your mind.
While they don’t give you a ton of time to mull it over, LibertyVPN does offer a 3-day money back guarantee (that’s not a typo, it’s 3 days, not 30!).
Feature #3: Number of Servers
The more servers a company has, the more opportunities you have to use it while you travel.
With broad reaching locations, you can take your internet protection with you, no matter where in the world you are.
LibertyVPN has an impressive network, with servers located in 83 countries around the world. With so many locations, it’s great for people that are on the road a lot.
Feature #4: Referral Program
This is one feature you won’t see very often at all among VPN companies, but it is a nice perk for those that offer it.
Basically, a VPN provider with a referral program will count on your word of mouth marketing to get them some extra business.
When a customer comes their way and says you sent them there, you’ll both get some kind of a kickback, like a month of free service.
No dice with LibertyVPN though – they don’t have any kind of a referral program to get you freebies.
Feature #5: Data Logging
One of the main reasons people sign up for VPN protection in the first place is to safeguard their personal identity.
It goes without saying, that the practice of data logging is absolutely not cool. Any VPN company that tracks your activity is defeating their own purpose, and should be tossed out of consideration.
LibertyVPN does no such thing-your privacy is totally safe with them.
Feature #6: Bandwidth
If you’re a Netflix addict, or listen to Pandora until it thinks you’re not there anymore, you’re going to want a lot of bandwidth.
Some companies actually put caps on bandwidth, or make you pay more for more expensive plans to increase your limits – those guys are outta here.
LibertyVPN doesn’t have any bandwidth limitations, offering their users totally limitless downloading and streaming.
In the end, it all comes down to dollars and cents. If you can’t afford the monthly cost of the VPN, it’s not worth all the fancy features in the world.
At just under $15 a month, LibertyVPN isn’t the cheapest one out there, but is definitely affordable for all the features you get. Plus, you can get discounts for purchasing multiple months at a time.
