DAZN is a premium live and on-demand sports service that covers all the most significant events. However, you can only access the stream in a few countries. If you aren’t able to watch DAZN, then you can use a VPN to bypass the restrictions. We recommend ExpressVPN as the best choice to unblock DAZN.

DAZN is a live and on-demand sports broadcaster that is rapidly rising in popularity. Their service covers 8,000 live events per year, from local to international fixtures. You can use DAZN for Bundesliga live coverage, as well as La Liga, the Premier League, and Formula One racing. Some have crowned the service the ‘Netflix of Sport.’

DAZN is available on most platforms, including Smart TVs, tablets, smartphones and games consoles. However, this top-rated broadcaster is only accessible in a few places. Currently, you can stream DAZN in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Japan.

As the company has no immediate plans to expand, if you’re located elsewhere you will have to use additional software to unblock DAZN.

How to Watch DAZN Outside Germany or Canada

Streaming services like DAZN are often throttled by the digital rights of the content. Licenses stipulate where sports event can be aired and broadcasters cannot violate the terms. Some companies are also guilty of geo-blocking for profit, but –  either way -the result is the same.

If you try and access DAZN outside the dictated countries, you will see an error message. This block happens because the site recognizes your location via your IP address, which is assigned by the server through which you connect. These codes act as GPS tags that establish the user’s whereabouts. By limiting which IP addresses can gain access, the DAZN live stream remains blocked to overseas users.

Fortunately, you can overcome this problem quickly by using a VPN. The software works by re-directing your traffic through a second server, situated in a different country. By choosing a server based in a DAZN region, you can mask your connection and watch the stream as if you were a native resident.

Unblock DAZN with a VPN

To make sure you can enjoy the DAZN stream with no interruptions, it’s essential to get a high-quality VPN. A few crucial aspects determine what makes an excellent VPN service.

These include:

  • Avoid lags and ensure you see the action as it happens.
  • Downtime could result in missing critical moments

Steve Knowles says:

DAZN told me last year that if you are using a VPN, DAZN will not work. Period. Any VPN.

ST Editor says:

Hi Steve, Thank you for your comment. We are going to do some deep diving to find out what is going on with the brands, so we can provide you all with updated information regarding DAZN and VPNs.

Lenny Hillfoot says:

ExpressVPN still has a DAZN problem as of today, Feb 21, 2018.

ST Editor says:

Thanks for sharing! We’ve found that DAZN tends to be more aggressive in policing VPN users than other companies. Even according to ExpressVPN’s website, their current coverage for DAZN extends only to servers located in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, and Japan. We would encourage you to try different servers in these locations. Let us know if this works!

ExpressVPN – Update 31 January 2018

I have ExpressVPN, since December 2017 it does not work with DAZN. I have done a long session online with their technical support, tried all possible servers and technical alternatives, disabled GPS, tried without wireless, etc, nothing worked. They promised to contact me back, but I haven’t heard from them since one month.
Dont’t buy it for this purpose, it is useless and waste of money.

Notably, I think is better you repeat your test….

ST Editor says:

Hi, we went straight to the source, ExpressVPN and asked them specifically what’s going on with DAZN. They said, “Yes, we support DAZN but we are having issues with DAZN right now as our servers are blocked. Our engineers are currently working on this and we hope to resolve this issue shortly.” But thank you for letting us know. We will update our article accordingly and look into the other brands.

JACKSON65 says:

Hi, thanks for the update, I hope this is solved.

ST Editor says:

No problem. We are looking into it and will be updating the article shortly regarding ExpressVPN and other brands. May I ask where you are trying to stream DAZN from?

Arghh says:

Hi I have same issues and told ExpressVpn just after Christmas. I had numerous sessions but they haven’t being able to solve the issue. I tried Nordvpn on a free trial with same results. I am not aware that any VPN is working on Dazn right now. I tried from Switzerland and Italy.

ST Editor says:

Hi Arghh, Thank you for your comment. We realize this is a much larger issue and are going to directly speak to the brands to provide information regarding this sudden ban of VPNs on DAZN.

Bob D. says:

I recently tried sign up for DAZN Canada using my VPN, Private Internet Access (PIA). DAZN would not let me sign up, even though I had selected a server in Vancouver. PIA support responded to my questions with the following:

“Streaming companies are facing legal consequences due to copyright issues. To protect themselves, they are blocking VPN IP addresses.”

If DAZN is blocking VPN IP addresses, then isn’t it likely that they are doing the same with the VPNs you mention above, most of which are well known VPNs. I’d appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

ST Editor says:

Hi, we know what you’re going through is quite frustrating! While we’re sure PIA is a good service, not all VPNs are created equal. Some prioritize certain aspects of their service over others (such as speed over geo-restrictions or security). The VPN providers we list in the article are all tested to ensure they work, and all have good track record beating geo-restrictions to give users access to the content they want. We encourage you to give any of these services a try–they have very generous money-back policies, and some offer great free trials–to see if they perform better for you! Let us know which service does the trick!
