Have you been keeping up-to-date with the drama going on with House of Cards Season 6? And we aren’t talking just on-screen, where season 5 left off, but off-screen as well. With Kevin Spacey out and no public statements regarding the future of this critically-acclaimed show, everyone is wondering when (and if) season six will actually air. But when the release date is finally publicized, no matter where you are in the world, make sure you are able to watch what is sure to be an interesting, albeit probably a little bit confusing in the beginning, season.

The award-winning House of Cards worked out very well for Netflix, helping to cement the streaming service as a viable alternative to cable television back in 2013. Algorithms showed that Kevin Spacey was a bankable star, (the irony) and it turned out to be a flagship show for the streaming site, only just starting at the time to get their toes wet with original programming. But now the show that brought Netflix notoriety is now causing problems, no thanks to leading actor, Kevin Spacey.

Due to sexual assault allegations against Kevin Spacey brought up by numerous people, including a handful of people who worked on House of Cards, at first production was suspended. However, it was later announced that Spacey was fired from the show. Since his unceremonious canning from the show, there have been no announcements regarding when the final season will air or how it will be reformatted.

Regardless of when the final season will air, many people will still tune in to see just how this saga will end. But if you live outside the US, you may not be able to watch it unless you get a VPN for Netflix.

How to Watch House of Cards Online Outside the US

A virtual private network (VPN) works by encrypting data sent to and from your device while you’re online. It’s primarily used to enhance security, but it will also change the location of your IP address.

As your IP is used by websites to decide which version of a website to load up, you can watch House of Cards online by switching to a US VPN server. (So a US server gets US Netflix, while a UK server would get the British version.)

While it may sound difficult, it’s by far the easiest way to unblock content from anywhere.

Use a VPN to Unblock Netflix and Watch House of Cards Season 6

If you’re not sure what to do, here’s a short step-by-step guide to getting started with a VPN and US Netflix.

  1. Firstly, you’ll need to sign up with a VPN service.
  2. Once you’ve made an account, download their client app for your device.
  3. Open the client and sign in.
  4. When prompted, pick a server located in the US. (It has to be a US server if you want to watch American Netflix.)
  5. Open Netflix and sign in.
  6. You should now be able to watch US content. If it’s not loading up, try a different server location.

Can Get Watch House of Cards Online Free?

Yes, although the speeds you’ll get from a completely free VPN won’t be comparable to a paid provider. Most free VPNs limit their service in some form (a shorter number of available servers, limited speed, and bandwidth…etc.), and the majority won’t be able to access Netflix whatsoever.

Some VPNs have given up with Netflix entirely as the streaming service has taken to blocking IP addresses associated with their servers, and the majority of free ones can’t handle the speeds anyway.

However, a number of premium VPNs offer some type of trial service which can be used to watch Netflix, so we’ve noted any money-back offers you can take advantage of below.

Choose the Right VPN to Stream House of Cards Online

Here are the criteria we looked at when picking the best VPN to watch House of Cards online.

If you’re planning on watching in Ultra HD quality, you’ll need a speedy provider that doesn’t place a limit on bandwidth or connection speeds. The VPN will also need a range of servers within the US for the IP address, and we’ve checked whether US Netflix is accessible in the first place.

#1 ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN is the fastest VPN we’ve tested, and it’ll be a lifesaver if you don’t have the best internet connection speeds. Their servers work perfectly with Netflix, and it’s one of the most reliable in terms of uptime and customer support. A single month is priced at $12.95, while they offer a no fuss 30-day money-back guarantee. It’s a solid all-around option that will be sure to handle all of your Netflix needs.

#2 NordVPN

The sheer volume of US servers means that NordVPN is a viable alternative if you don’t like the look of the others. It’s a great way to unblock and watch House of Cards anywhere, while they’re also one of the best on the list in terms of security and encryption. NordVPN comes in at $11.95 for a month, although prices drop drastically if you opt for a longer deal. As long as your account is in ‘good standing’, you’ll be able to get a refund within the first 30 days of making an account.

#3 PrivateVPN

PrivateVPN claim to have built a custom VPN specifically for unlocking Netflix shows from anywhere in the world, and we’re happy to report that we had no issues throughout testing. At $8.21 for per month, it’s the cheapest on our list by a fair margin, with decent speeds and a 30-day money-back guarantee that can be taken advantage of. It does the job effectively, and it’ll keep you up to date with Frank Underwood and co.

While I don’t agree with what Kevin Spacey did, he made the show. I don’t know if the show can work without Frank Underwood.
