Best VPNs for Iran in 2017

Iran is one of the most heavily censored countries in the world when it comes to internet access. Nearly 50% of the top 500 websites, which includes Facebook, YouTube, and unbiased news sources are banned. The Iranian government also monitors internet activity and has tough laws regarding accessing ‘undesirable’ material. Using a VPN not only protects your privacy in Iran and prevents your activity from being tracked but also lets you access restricted websites.

Why Do You Need a VPN In Iran?

Reporters Without Borders have continually ranked Iran as one of the most censored countries in the world.

They have labeled the Iranian government ‘enemies of the internet’ due to their tough censorship laws.

Accessing everyday social networking websites, such as Facebook, is difficult and reading blogs or news outlets that don’t support the government can be dangerous.

All of these websites are generally banned in Iran. It is difficult to access unbiased information on a regular basis.

On top of this, the government monitors all users’ internet activity. Trying to access banned websites without a secured connection can lead to legal trouble in Iran.

To get around these restrictions and to ensure that your internet activity is not tracked in Iran then get Express VPN right away.

How Does A VPN Work In Iran?

The best way to bypass this internet censorship and also ensure that your privacy is protected is to use a VPN.

Connecting through a VPN sever encrypts your connection. This means that your activity cannot be traced.

The VPN will also provide you with a new IP address outside of Iran so you can gain access to content that the Iranian government doesn’t want you to see.

To enhance your internet experience in Iran, gain access to unbiased news and opinion and also to protect yourself online then use a VPN at all times.

Top 3 VPNs For Iran

Below, are 3 popular VPN providers and we’ll let you know how they  stack up to each other.

#1 – Express VPN – 9.5/10 – Most secure VPN for Iran with fast speeds

To access the internet securely in Iran, free yourself from tough censorship and avoid being spied on, then Express VPN should be your number one choice.

They provide a 256-bit SSL secured connection. This is a highly encrypted method of accessing the internet and ensures that your activity cannot be tracked or traced.

Any websites you try to access which are not allowed by the Iranian government cannot be tracked back to you.

Express VPN has servers that also make sure your internet connection stays consistent. Iran doesn’t always have fast internet speeds and many VPNs will decrease these further.

Because Express VPNs servers can accommodate significant traffic, then you will always be able to find a free slot.

There is no waiting about for a free server and you can browse the internet securely in Iran anytime you like.

With Express VPN you get a 30 day money back guarantee. If you want to see if the software is suitable for you then you can get a full refund within a month of your purchase.

You can get a secure connection and a way to bypass Iran’s censorship from $8.32 per month for a year’s subscription.

Given Iran’s strict censorship policies and monitoring of internet usage a VPN is a necessary piece of software if you want to stay safe online.

To avoid being tracked online and to securely bypass geo-restrictions in Iran, then get Express VPN right away.

#2 – IPVanish – 7/10 – Sluggish speeds compared to Express VPN

IPVanish provides encryption like Express VPN but it suffers lag and slower speeds.

The last thing you want is for your internet connection speed to drop. The Iranian government regularly uses speed throttling to stop users accessing certain content and downloading files.

With IPVanish your Iranian internet speed will drop further and the internet will be virtually unusable at times.

In contrast, Express VPN ensures that all traffic through their servers receive quick speeds. With Express VPN your download speed won’t decrease even further.

Another problem with IPVanish is that they only offer a 7 day money back guarantee.

Express VPN provides over 4x this length so you can see for yourself if the software is right for you. With IPVanish you get far less time to decide.

For a much better way of bypassing Iran’s internet censorship and avoiding being tracked by the government then get Express VPN.

IPVanish can be found at this website.

#3 HideMyAss – 5/10 – Can be difficult to sign up with an Iranian IP address

The third choice VPN for Iran is HideMyAss. Many people have issues with these guys, not least of all is its reliability, customer service and difficulty in signing up.

If you try to sign up to HideMyAss with an Iranian IP address you are often blocked from accessing their service.

Whereas Express VPN accepts customers from all over the world, HideMyAss doesn’t seem to like new clients from Iran.

Like IPVanish these guys will also limit your download speed. If you are already receiving slow download speeds in Iran, then HideMyAss will reduce this further.

Finally, their customer service team isn’t great. It took Express VPN about 10 minutes to respond to my support ticket and provide a solution. With HideMyAss this was over 2 hours!

HideMyAss might shield your identity online and provide a way to bypass internet restrictions in Iran, but it isn’t an efficient or reliable VPN.

HideMyAss can be found here.

Conclusion: Best VPN For Iran

Many internet users in Iran are contacted by the Ministry of Intelligence due to their internet activity. This can be something harmless like trying to access Facebook or downloading a file.

      Hello,

To my knowledge I am uncertain of this. For now I would recommend seeing what other payment options ExpressVPN has (there are quite a few, including PayPal and Bitcoin) and seeing what you can obtain. There is likely a payment method that will work for you.
