Best VPN for Hulu
Last Update: 30th December 2015 – Our method still works for unblocking Hulu
Summary: To access Hulu while overseas you need to bypass Hulu’s restrictions by using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Using a VPN makes Hulu think you’re still at home and not out of the country.
The VPN that gave us the best results and we definitely recommend is ExpressVPN. It’s the simplest, fastest, and most secure VPN for watching Hulu in Europe and outside the U.S.
If you want to watch Hulu from anywhere, get Express VPN now.

If you are a frequent traveler like me, services like Hulu are a blessing and a curse. Hulu is great when traveling in the U.S. No matter where I am staying I won’t have to miss my favorite TV shows. The same cannot be said once I leave the U.S. though.
The biggest drawback of Hulu, to me, is that the service cannot be accessed outside of the United States. There’s nothing more frustrating after a long flight to Europe than finally settling down in a hotel room, firing up my laptop, logging into Hulu and getting a message telling me Hulu isn’t available in my region.
This problem comes down to one thing and one thing only: the IP address assigned to my device when I log in.
How Hulu Blocks Access Outside the U.S.
It is actually very simple for Hulu to restrict access to the U.S. by checking the IP address of each device attempting to log into the Hulu service. The IP address, which is based on the network the device is connected to, is easily recognized as an IP outside the U.S. Once the Hulu server determines this, the ever frustrating error message appears.
Just as it is simple for Hulu to restrict access based on your location, it is also very simple for you to get around this restriction. In fact, not only will you be able to watch Hulu in Europe, you will also make your online presence more secure in the process. The solution: a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
You see, a VPN allows you to select a server in a certain location, in our case the U.S. When you do this, each and every website and server you access sees the VPN server and therefore recognizes the device as being located in the U.S.
Don’t worry, you don’t need to be a tech guru to use a VPN. They are very simple to use and there are plenty to choose from, so make sure you have a VPN in place before that next trip to Europe and you will be able to watch Hulu whenever and wherever you want.
3 Best VPN’s For Hulu
#1 Choice for Streaming: Express VPN – 4.5/5
Express VPN is definitely the top contender when it comes to the best of the best VPN companies.
Their connection speed is lightning fast, making them perfect for people who frequently use streaming services like Hulu.
Plus, they can be used on virtually any wifi-enabled device, and even on more than one at a time, so no arguing with the kids on whether you watch Frozen or The Walking Dead that night.
Perhaps the best part about Express VPN is their customer service. If you get stuck, they have a customer service team available 24/7/365 to answer all of your questions, either through live chat or e-mail. They respond super fast too, with average e-mail reply times of around 30 minutes.
Not everyone out there has ever used a VPN-or even heard of them-and these guys know it. That’s why their software is incredibly easy to use, and designed with simplicity in mind.
And the best part is, this company offers a rock-solid 30-day money back guarantee. Then, if you decide you like their service, you can refer a friend to sign up, and both receive a month of free service. It doesn’t get much better than that.
So if you’re looking for the fastest connection speed and the most secure network, and the absolute best VPn for Hulu, get a plan through Express VPN today.
#2: IPVanish – 4/5 – Fast connection, not for iPhones or iPads
If for some reason you can’t access Express VPN, give IPVanish a try next. Their connection is every bit as fast, thanks to their large network of servers.
Plus, all of their service plans come with unlimited bandwidth, so you never have to worry about hitting a cap as you stream your favorite movies and TV shows.
IPVanish has customer support pretty similar to Express VPN’s too, with support staff available 24/7 via live chat or e-mail to lend a hand.
The only real difference you might notice between Express VPN and IPVanish’s customer support is that these guys just take a little longer to reply to e-mails.
Also, they don’t have a referral program, and their money back guarantee is only one week, as opposed to Express VPN’s 30 days.
Another pretty significant difference between IPVanish and Express VPN is that they’re software isn’t compatible with iOS.
While IPVanish will work on everything else, like Windows, Mac, Android, and even Linux, their software isn’t for users of iPhones and iPads, but Express VPN works on all operating systems.
So unless you’re trying to stream Hulu on a mobile Apple device, IPVanish is a pretty good option.

#3: HideMyAss – 2/5 – Slow connection, not ideal for streaming
While HideMyAss has a lot of great features, they also come with a lot of catches. Be warned, if you’re using this VPN to stream Hulu, you’re probably going to end up getting pretty frustrated.
While their service plans come with unlimited bandwidth just like Express VPN, the catch is that their connection is just painfully slow, making streaming one big buffering session.
They have a pretty large network of servers, but even that comes with some problems.
It doesn’t seem to matter which server you connect to – your connection is often unreliable, frequently disconnecting (in the middle of a show no less).
It’s not only irritating, but a pretty big security concern.
HideMyAss has 24/7 customer support like Express VPN, and even has phone technicians in addition to live chat and e-mail representatives.
Like IPVanish though, you’re probably going to end up waiting much longer for a response on an e-mail from HideMyAss – at least overnight.
While their software is compatible with all systems, there are just too many catches with HideMyAss to make it worth your while to use them to stream Hulu, or do anything else for that matter.
For just a few bucks more a month, you get much better support and a faster connection using Express VPN.
HideMyAss is here.
Conclusion: Use Express VPN for Fast, Unlimited Hulu Access
With the advent of online streaming services, it seems that the days of DVD cases and blue ray players are vanishing rapidly. The convenience and simplicity of services like Hulu has made movie-watching an experience that is only a click away.
However, that convenience can come at a price. Anytime you log on to your Hulu account unprotected, you’re risking exposing yourself to things like identity thieves and hackers. Plus, many public networks at places like schools and business often restrict access to these websites, making it difficult to watch your favorite shows.
Use a fast, reliable VPN, like Express VPN to get around irritating content blocks, and give you the peace of mind that complete anonymity and identity protection brings.
To access Hulu no matter where you are and protect your privacy at the same time, sign up with Express VPN today!
