Banned from Omegle? Find How to Unblock the Ban to Your Chatting Service
Omegle is a groundbreaking online chat service that came about in 2009, allowing two random strangers to talk to one another. It has since risen in popularity with thousands of users around the world enjoying its benefits. Due to the nature of this chat service, Omegle has had its own share of criticism when it comes to privacy issues resulting in many unexpected Omegle bans.
The worst part of an Omegle ban is that you cannot contact anyone to question the ban or revert it. There is also no way to achieve an Omegle unban if your ban was completely unjustified. Until now. With a Virtual Private Network (VPN), you can successfully get Omegle-unblocked.
If you want to know how to get unbanned from Omegle and why you might have earned yourself an Omegle ban in the first place, keep reading.
Get Unbanned from Omegle (2021 Edition)
Omegle only tracks and knows you by your IP address. If you are banned, your IP address will be blacklisted, not yourself.
To achieve an Omegle unban you will need a new IP address. The simplest and safest way to do this is with a VPN.
How? Your chosen VPN will provide you with a new IP address, one that Omegle hasn’t blocked which means you can go back to using the site like before.
There are hundreds of VPN options out there, but not all of them are created equally.

Omegle Banned You? Here’s the Solution
About Omegle
Omegle is a video chatting platform that allows people from different countries to connect and communicate with one another. You enter information about your interests and then are connected to a random stranger where you can strike up a conversation.
When first introduced, Omegle was a text-based chat site but has since then evolved to include different features such as video calling which was introduced in 2010.
While to some it might seem strange to attempt to actively seek out conversations with strangers, thousands of users all over the world find it entertaining, enlightening, hilarious or just another way to kill time.
The great thing about Omegle is that your data will never be linked to your identity which ensures complete anonymity when using the site.
While you don’t need an account or any identifying information to use the site, college students are able to use a university email to communicate with random students online (if Omegle is not blockd at school).
The founders of Omegle believed that using technology, people all over the world could overcome geographic boundaries and communicate with other like-minded people. This is where the site’s fitting motto comes in titled “Talk to strangers!”
How Long do Omegle bans last?
Omegle bans can range anywhere from a week to 120 days. Some bans are permanent though, depending on the reason behind your ban.
Reasons for the Omegle Ban
Omegle uses both human moderators and automated blocking software to ban any users that break website policies. Here are some ways that might have resulted in your Omegle ban.
Other Users Often Drop You
If you are “dropped” by other users more regularly than other individuals on the site, it will give the algorithm reason to believe you might be a troll. Although this strategy might not be full-proof, Omegle was designed to be a social platform. Any people that are constantly being dropped are perceived to be abusing the site.
On the other hand, if you are the one that’s dropping other users constantly, it will be taken that you don’t want to participate. Even worse, it might be seen that you’re spying on users, also warranting a ban.
Someone Reported You
Users can report one another for offensive content and it is the most probable cause for you being banned. This will typically earn you a ban effective immediately. While Omegle moderators are required to verify possible bad behavior, that’s not often what happens.
Realistically, it would take too long to get through all reports, which is sometimes why reported incidents aren’t properly investigated.
As we are all different, it is possible that a user took something you said in a completely different way than you meant it. Otherwise, there are also trolls lurking on Omegle trying to get people banned for the fun of it.
No matter the reason, the smart way to go about things is to be very respectful when speaking to strangers. Remember that different cultures and corners of the globe might not find humor in the same things you do.
You Violated Omegle’s Terms and Conditions
There are a number of things that can land you in hot water when using Omegle, and needless to say, it is easy to do so. This includes obvious behavior like nudity, abusing or harassing users in any way or spamming people.
However, it goes further than that, with anyone playing copyrighted music, TV shows, or movies in the background can get banned as well.
Additionally, if someone has made a complaint about you violating the terms and conditions of the site, it can also get you banned. In the end, it is up to the moderator’s judgment as to whether or not there were any violations committed.
It should be noted that “adult” conversations must be had in the section of the site reserved for users 18 years and over. If you accidentally have them outside of that area, you will definitely find yourself banned.
An Omegle ban can last anywhere from seven days to four months, depending on the reason for your ban. It’s difficult to say, however, with some users receiving a permanent ban for severe violations including racism, nudity, abuse, and spam.
What Countries Block Omegle Completely?
Some Omegle bans have nothing to do with the user, but are instead due to where that user happens to be located in the world. In some countries, Omegle is blocked entirely. These include:
This is down to those countries’ own individual censorship and freedom of speech laws.
The Best Way to Get Unbanned from Omegle: a VPN
If you’re still scratching your head as to why you got banned, there’s no need to worry. The great news is that you can ensure an Omegle unban immediately in just a few easy steps.
The fact is, Omegle doesn’t require users to register on their site, meaning it doesn’t have your email address on record. How in the world does it even know you’re trying to use the site again?
Basically, Omegle uses the IP address of every user to record and identify the network you’re using. When you connect to the internet, your IP address is allocated to you from your internet service provider (ISP).
If you are banned from Omegle, that particular IP address that you’ve been using up to now will not be able to access the video chatting platform.
Should you change your IP address to a completely new one, your problem will be gone. The best way to get Omegle unblocked with a new IP address is with a VPN.
A VPN is a handy online tool that will allow you to mask your IP address by connecting to another server.
When activating your VPN you will be asked to connect to a VPN server of your choice in many locations around the world. Usually, the closer that server is to your actual location, the faster your internet connection will be.
If you find that when you connect to a certain server and are having trouble with the Omegle video quality, it might be due to a slow connection. To get around this issue you can just select another server, preferable one closer to your true location.
As soon as your connection to the VPN service is live and active, you will receive a new IP address. You can double-check this to be true by entering “what is my IP address” in the Google search bar prior to activating your VPN as well as straight after.
You will now have a completely different VPN address, meaning that you will come across as a completely new user to Omegle and any other sites that you visit.
It is very important to note that if you’ve been banned from Omegle in the past, you will want to clear your internet cookies before using your VPN to access the social platform. This way any new bans on your latest IP address will not be possible.
Setting up a VPN for Omegle
- Make sure to clear your browser cache.
- Download the app of the VPN you have subscribed to.
- Run the app on your PC or smartphone.
- As soon as the interface comes up enter your username and password.
- Hit the sign-in button.
- Choose the server you wish to connect to and click on “Connect”.
- Open up your browser, access Omegle, and enjoy.
Other advantages of using a VPN when chatting with Omegle
A VPN is your solution for interacting in Omegle. Reasons include the following:
- Stops you from being hacked by unpalatable agents like ransomware hackers who would gladly use your indiscretions to blackmail you.
- Stops you from collecting stalkers. Certain Omegle participants may be so enraptured with your “gift of the gab” that they may call, text, email, even use your IP address to physically track you down. That’s dangerous.
- Helps you hop onto Omegle in any and every setting – even if it’s in a censored country or in a workspace where there’s a block.
- Helps you spout off your most provocative opinions, or reveal your deepest secrets, without anyone tracking your identity.

Alternatives to Omegle
The following sites are fascinating rivals. (Note: Proceed with caution):
Chatroulette
This online chat service pairs users with random strangers. It’s the equivalent of Russian roulette. Instead of dallying with a gun, you parry typed or streamed messages. Don’t like the chat? Just leave.
Tinychat
Tinychat is far from “tiny” with its thousands of chat rooms and up to 12 video feeds per room. Participate free through mic, video or IM.
Fruzo
Lonely and would love a date? Try Fruzo, using your Facebook or invented profile. Feel less romantic and simply want friends? Fruzo lets you “chat” too.
IMeetzu
With over a thousand new members a day is one of the best sites for beating social anxiety. Even more popular than Omegle, iMeetzu finds you friends and dates – and lets you practice your social skills on an endless array of strangers.
Facebuzz
Time for fun. Dress up in some outlandish costumes or “let your hair down” through saying or doing outrageous things (within caution). Have members rate you on your personality, while you rate them on theirs.
Get Unbanned From Omegle – The Bottom Line
It doesn’t take much to get banned from Omegle, whether you’ve done something like offend someone, or still don’t know why you were banned in the first place.
It can easily happen to anyone, especially with trolls reporting random people for violating the terms and conditions just for kicks.
There is a way to get around your Omegle ban, and it comes in the form of a VPN. This way, you will be able to change your IP address and prevent Omegle from enforcing its ban.
As we’ve mentioned earlier, ExpressVPN is our top pick because it’s super fast, secure, and hassle-free for anyone who wants to keep on using Omegle.
Remember, if you want to continue talking to strangers, you can. Download your favorite VPN right now and get chatting.

Hi William,
Have you tried switching your VPN’s server location? It’s possible that your VPN was set to a region that Omegle has blocked.
Are there any good free vpns
Hi Peyton,
Please check out our article about the best free VPNs: https://securethoughts.com/best-free-vpn/
good article
Hi Marlon,
Thank you very much
Unfortunately they’ve started blocking IP ranges belonging to VPNs with a message “Unable to connect to server. Please try again.
Hi,
Like with any website, some of the IP addresses have been discovered already. Simply jump around to a few different addresses until you find one that has not yet been discovered by Omegle.
this unban method does not work anymore
Hi Jon,
Which method are you referring to? You will definitely be able to unban Omegle using a VPN, and there are lots of servers to choose from, from many different IP locations.
So I was playing the guitar and all of a sudden I got banned can someone explain
Hi Chase,
There are a number of reasons you might have been banned, and not all of them are in your control. You can simply switch to a new server location, and Omegle should open up for you.
Banned
You have been banned from Omegle due to possible terms of service violations by you, or someone else using your computer or network.
Hi! Could you tell us a little more about the circumstances surrounding your ban? Sometimes understanding why you were banned can help you get unbanned that much quicker. Generally speaking, however, you can also attempt to resolve your issue by connecting to one of the VPNs we described in the article, and attempt to connect to one of their services to circumvent the restrictions. Let us know how you resolve your issue!
ExpressVPN is definitely the most expensive of the VPN solutions on offer here. However, we can rest easier knowing that we’re getting the best service available for that premium price! Also, in terms of bandwidth and speed, few can rival ExpressVPN, which claims to be the fastest in the world. This makes it ideal for rapid media streaming which is a necessity to handle video chats and calls on Omegle.
I was chatting up a guy weeks ago. He seemed nice and we agreed to meet after he suggested it. We were at a restaurant where we ordered and found out I was a vegetarian. He cut the date short after telling me how “disgusting” vegetarians are. I disagreed and we parted ways. Then he reported me for being ‘offensive’. Thanks to this post, I’ll bypass the ban now!
This article is helpful as it mentions some of the effective ways of getting past an Omegle ban. However, using IPVanishVPN to gain access to the site might always not be beneficial as IPVanish does not support a 24/7 live chat session which might be eagerly needed by the user as chatting times and preferences may vary from person to person. Also, switching servers to gain faster access to the site can be troublesome as it hinders the normal flow of browsing and using social interaction websites like Omegle. These sound like some major drawbacks of using VPNs to access Omegle, is there a better solution to the problem then?
Hi, and thank you for the question! The thing to keep in mind is that depending on what you want from your VPN, different companies can offer unique combinations of features to match your needs. IPVanish is a reliable option, and though their support lines aren’t always available, we have found they are generally good about responding promptly. Other companies can also offer some more reliable server access. ExpressVPN, our top recommended service, is a bit pricier, but has tested impressively for browsing speeds and server stability, as well as different location options. While no solution is foolproof, a VPN may still be your best option, as they can combine great access and a simple way to get around an unfair ban. Let us know if you manage to resolve your problem!
But I’ve had bans that only lasted a handful of hours? Eight or so?
mine lasted for 13 days
Great information and thanks for telling us about the Omegle VPN .I use it as you explain above about omegle .It’s a great VPN.
Really found this article helpful, thanks. I had tried a few different VPN options but as was said below Hola and Zenmate specifically were giving me problems. I gave HideMyAss a try (seemed fitting for Omegle) and it worked right away without any problems (speed, connections, etc.). Appreciate it!
You got to be careful on Omegle because there are crazies on there. I was talking to this HOT girl a couple of months back and it seemed to be going well, or so I thought. This girl was supposedly just a couple of hours from me and we were talking about meeting up.
So after chatting for a long time, I was trying to nail down a time to meet. Then I start hearing some giggling in the background and then she starts talking in friggin Russian! I had been kittenfished by some random Russian girl. Her friends then came on screen all laughing and worst of all, they decided to report me.
I couldn’t get back on for days. Someone recommended IPVanish and so I gave it a whirl. BOOM! Back to Omegle I went. I don’t know about the others but I know IPVanish works, and stay away from “Natty.” If this hot girl with a Bon Jovi poster in the background starts talking to you….RUN!
Hey Mr. Writer!
Thanks so much for this piece. Honestly, your posts are very great and informative. With this, I would be able to escape Omegle ban whenever it hits me. Thanks so much for this information.
Thanks, Lyndon Seitz for this cool article. You have just taught me how to get unbanned from Omegle. I didn’t know about this until bumping into this article. It feels really great to learn something valuable from SecureThoughts.com. Good job!
Everything was going well for me on Omegle until they banned me for no fucking reason. I was about to set up a date with a stranger on their website but yesterday I wasn’t able to log into my account because of some stupid ban. I was astonished seeing my active account banned and thank God I found safer VPN to change my IP address and get access to my Omegle account.
I’ve been banned about 5 times. Thanks Seitz for this lovely article. All thanks to VPNs, I no longer have difficulties visiting omegle
I have to admit, I view porn sometimes. It was a bit difficult for me because it is actually restricted where I work. I use a VPN download and save videos so I can watch them later on. Good thing we have VPNs.
This is post is just a saviour. The awareness from it got me back to Omegle. Goodbye to Omegle ban. Credit to ExpressVPN
Ok, I don’t even know what I did wrong. But this information has been very helpful. I just changed my IP address with IPVanish and that’s how I got back. Thank you.
Wow! I successfully escaped Omegle ban ExpressVPN. I want to believe this VPN is the best all over the world.
Great post. Very informative.
yes, I notice that you are simply banned without any reason, while others, specially in the english language section, can undisturbed make a porn show without being disturbed
Antoonraj
I think it’s about time omegle became another chatroulette. The bans are orchestrated in order to get you to into the seedier sections due to them being sponsored.
I’ve been trying to use IPVanish for the past few days, but I can’t seem to get it working on omegle. I have gone through almost 100 different servers on there, and not even ONE of them works. I can connect to any other site except for omegle. When I get on omegle, I can get to the homepage to select either a text or a video chat, but when I click on either one of them, it just says “Can’t connect to server” or “Error connecting to server”. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Ben have you used another VPN ?
Same thing happens to me whenever I turn on pretty much any VPN on.
I’ve tried Cyberghost, 3monkey, hola, zenmate. They all give me “error connecting to server, please try again”
the only one that worked was a chrome plugin vpn called betternet… however they seem to have only a couple servers in usa and uk but those are always banned
